Engineer's Banquet - The Capstone Travis Chapter Event celebrating the 57th anniversary of Engineer's Week will be held on March, 1, 2008 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin in cooperation with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Transforming the Future of Engineering will be the theme of this year's banquet and will require cocktail attire. We will announce and recognize the Engineer of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year, and the Civil Engineer of the Year Awards. Our guest speaker this year, Susan Dawson, Executive Director of E3 Alliance, will discuss the status of the Texas public education system, particularly achievement gaps in math and science. She will also talk about closing those gaps by better aligning the curriculum and instruction between the various school levels.
